A treasure on the hill across from us

On 28 October 2019 we moved to Peklo. Building the house took us half a year, and although the house is far from finished, we think it is quite a decent achievement. We hope the garden will move along in spring 2020, and maybe even the whole façade.
But now to what we have managed here so far: almost nothing. A big belly, out of which a lovely little baby emerged at the end of January, made mountain hiking and parties until dawn in Špindl a bit harder.
In any case, we discovered a local treasure, and looking out of the window was all it took. We kept wondering what exactly that thing on the hill was, the hill we had chosen our plot for – or rather the view of it. So we pulled ourselves together and set off to explore, in gorgeous autumn weather.
Ten minutes by car and we found ourselves in a different world. We came across a Giant Mountains cottage that looked like they might give us something to drink. We sat down on the veranda, which looked rather hipster – panelled walls, new nice wooden furniture. Adam brought excellent coffee and a huge pot of tea. Inside awaited a lovely room with the stove lit, a few tables to sit at and a really big, handsome coffee machine.
I was really happy, because good coffee in Vrchlabí or Špindl is nearly impossible. Another unbelievable thing: they take cards. At that moment I knew Kněžická chalupa would be our oasis in the Giant Mountains desert.
Since then we have been there about ten times. We have discovered that they do the best pancakes under the sun. So far we have not had a bad meal, the staff are terribly kind and I am already looking forward to going back!
Careful: it is not only the cottage itself that is wonderful. Its surroundings are great for a walk in any season. From spring to autumn you can even go horse riding there.
So from us it is 10 out of 10 and clearly the best place in Vrchlabí!
