Summer trips from Peklo
In summer the Giant Mountains may be even prettier than in winter. We have picked trips you can manage from the apartment in a day, from easy walks with the children to all-day hikes along the ridges.

Kněžická chalupa
Our closest tip starts right behind the house. On the hill across from us stands Kněžická chalupa with its café, and the surroundings are ideal for a stroll. From spring to autumn you can even go horse riding there. More in the article A treasure on the hill across from us.
The treetop walkway in Janské Lázně
About half an hour by car. The wooden walkway runs above the forest and ends in a tower with views of the mountains. The route is roughly a kilometre and a half long and not demanding, so it works well for small children and for days when the ridges are in the mist.
The source of the Elbe and the Pančavský waterfall
A classic that is worth experiencing at least once. From Špindl you can ride up to Vrbatova bouda and from there follow the marked path to Labská bouda, to the source of the Elbe and to the viewpoint over the Pančavský waterfall, the highest waterfall in the country. It is the first zone of the national park, so stick to the marked paths.
Sněžka
You can walk up the highest mountain in Czechia, or take the cable car from Pec pod Sněžkou via Růžová hora. From us to Pec it is just under an hour by car. The cable car to the summit only runs in good weather and stops in strong winds.
The Žalý lookout tower
A shorter trip above Vrchlabí with a stone lookout tower. On a clear day you will see a large part of the Giant Mountains spread out before you, with Vrchlabí below.
A few tips before you head out
The weather on the ridges changes quickly, so a jacket comes in handy even in July. Cable cars and attractions run different schedules depending on the season, so check their websites before you set off. And about anything else, just ask us when you are here.
