Where to go for something to eat

The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, but up in the mountains you sometimes feel like being waited on. Here are a few places around Vrchlabí and in Špindlerův Mlýn you can head to after a day out or after skiing.

Just a stone's throw from us

Kněžická chalupa is our clear number one. It stands on the hill we look across to from the window, about ten minutes away by car. Good coffee, pancakes, a stove that has been lit and lovely surroundings for a walk. We wrote more about it in the article A treasure on the hill across from us.

Restaurace Eden in Hořejší Vrchlabí (Za Řekou 370) cooks Czech cuisine and does desserts too. It is close by, so you can get there without the car.

The Herlíkovice ski area has a self-service restaurant with Czech dishes and Sasanka. It works best in winter, when you are on the slopes anyway.

In Špindlerův Mlýn

Špindl is about a quarter of an hour away by car and there are plenty of places to eat, from stands by the slopes to hotel restaurants. A few tips:

  • Lebeda at Svatý Petr: modern Czech cuisine, with a lunch menu on weekdays too.
  • Hromovka: classic Czech and mountain dishes.
  • Orange le Moon in Bedřichov: when you fancy something other than traditional Czech fare.

Before you set off

Plenty of places up in the mountains follow the seasons and are closed outside them, or keep shorter opening hours. So it is better to check their website or the maps first. And if you don't know where to go, write to us, we will be happy to advise.
